Privacy Policy

Cinemate ("we", "us", "the app") is a free movie and TV tracking app. It has no accounts, no subscriptions and no advertising. This policy explains what data is involved, why, and how it is handled. If you have questions, contact us at konansulx@gmail.com.
1. Information we collect
- No account, no sign-in. Cinemate does not ask for your name, email address or password. There is nothing to register and no profile to create.
- Your library stays yours. Everything you track — watchlist, watched titles, favorites, your star ratings and personal notes — is stored locally on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, it also syncs through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database) so it appears on your other devices. This data goes to Apple's servers under your Apple ID. We have no access to it, we operate no server of our own, and we never receive a copy.
- Usage and device data. Through Google Firebase Analytics we collect app-interaction events (for example: which screens are opened, when a title is added to a list, searches performed), plus device model, operating-system version, app version, language and approximate region derived from IP at country level, and a random app-instance identifier. This is not linked to your identity.
- Notifications. Cinemate uses local notifications only — they are scheduled and delivered by your device. There is no push server and no device push token is collected or transmitted.
- What we never collect. No photos, no camera or microphone access, no contacts, no precise location, no health data, no payment details. The app is free and contains no in-app purchases.
2. How we use your information
- To keep your tracked titles available and in sync across your own devices.
- To show you movie and TV information you request.
- To send the local reminders you have allowed.
- To understand how the app is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
3. Service providers
Cinemate relies on the following third parties. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.
- The Movie Database (TMDB) — supplies all movie, TV, cast and artwork data. When you browse or search, your requests are sent to TMDB's API. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. See the TMDB privacy policy.
- JustWatch — "where to watch" streaming availability shown in the app is provided by JustWatch through TMDB.
- Apple (iCloud / CloudKit) — stores and syncs your library in your own private iCloud database. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Google Firebase Analytics — usage analytics, as described in section 1. See Firebase privacy information.
- News publishers. The News tab shows headlines from public RSS feeds. Opening an article leaves Cinemate and takes you to the publisher's own website in your browser, where that publisher's privacy policy applies.
4. Data retention
Your library data stays on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you keep it — we cannot delete it for you because we cannot reach it. Analytics data is retained for a limited period in line with our Firebase Analytics retention settings and is not tied to your identity.
5. Your rights and deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device. To also remove the synced copy, delete Cinemate's iCloud data in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. You can turn off analytics collection at the system level by limiting app tracking and analytics sharing in iOS Settings. For any question or request about this policy, email konansulx@gmail.com.
6. Children
Cinemate is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will address it.
7. Security
Your tracked data is protected by your device's own protections and by Apple's iCloud security. Network requests to TMDB use encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. International transfers
The providers listed above may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. By using the app you consent to this processing.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected in the app or here.
