Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Cinemate app ("the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Cinemate is a personal movie and TV tracker. It lets you browse and search titles, view details, and keep your own watchlist, watched history, favorites, ratings and notes. The app is provided free of charge, contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the app.

3. No accounts

Cinemate does not require registration. Your tracked data is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced through your own Apple ID. You are responsible for maintaining access to that Apple ID and for any backups of your data.

4. No purchases

The app is entirely free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no paid features. Should this ever change, it will be reflected in an updated version of these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of the rights of others;
• attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, decompile or abuse the app or the third-party services it relies on;
• use automated means to extract data from the app or from the APIs it accesses;
• redistribute or resell content obtained through the app.

6. Third-party content and data

Movie, TV, cast and artwork data is supplied by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Streaming availability ("where to watch") is provided by JustWatch through TMDB. News headlines come from public RSS feeds and open in your browser on the publisher's own site. We do not control this content, do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness or availability, and are not responsible for third-party websites you visit from the app. All trademarks, posters and artwork remain the property of their respective owners.

7. Availability

The app depends on third-party services, in particular the TMDB API. Those services may change, become unavailable or impose limits at any time, which may affect the app's functionality. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability and may modify or discontinue features.

8. Your content

Your ratings, notes and lists belong to you. They are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account; we do not access, moderate or claim any rights over them.

9. Intellectual property

The app itself, including its design, code and original assets, belongs to the developer. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including any loss of tracked data.

12. Apple App Store

This app is licensed, not sold, to you. The Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) applies as a minimum. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
