Privacy Policy

Cleanly ("the app", "we", "us"), published on the App Store as Cleanly: Photo Cleaner, finds duplicate photos, near-identical shots, blurred frames, screenshots, heavy videos and oversized files, and helps you remove them. It runs entirely on your device. This policy explains what happens to your data: your photos, files and contacts never leave your phone. What the app does send is anonymous: how the app is used, reports of crashes and errors, and the state of your subscription. If you have questions, contact us at konansulx@gmail.com.
1. Information we collect
Nothing about your photos, files or contacts. We have no server of our own and no way to see what is in your library. What the app does send is listed below, and none of it names you.
- No account, no sign-in. There is nothing to register. The first launch asks for a first name, only to greet you, and you can skip it; the app never asks for an email address, phone number or password. The name is never sent to us or to the services below.
- Anonymous usage. The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to record what happens in it: which screens are opened, a scan finishing, how many items were removed and how much space that freed, how a paywall was opened and closed, and whether a purchase went through, with the product and its price. With these, Firebase receives the device model, the iOS version, the app version, an approximate location worked out from the IP address (country and region, never a precise position) and a random identifier for this installation. No file name, photo, contact, folder path or any other content is ever sent, and the size of your library and the free space on the device are reported in broad bands rather than exactly. Google keeps this data for 14 months. You can read Google's terms at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
- Crash and error reports. If the app crashes, or something fails, such as a photo that cannot be downloaded from iCloud or a purchase that does not complete, Firebase Crashlytics receives a report: where in the app it happened, the error code, the device model and the iOS version. Reports never contain your content and are kept for 90 days.
- Subscriptions. The app uses Superwall to choose which free trial is offered and to know whether Pro is active. Superwall receives a random identifier for this installation, the device's vendor identifier, the app and iOS versions, which paywall was shown, and, from Apple, the state of the subscription: trial started, renewed, cancelled or refunded. You can read Superwall's policy at superwall.com/privacy.
- Apple Search Ads. If you installed the app after tapping one of our ads in the App Store, Apple's AdServices framework tells the app which campaign and keyword it came from. This uses no advertising identifier and needs no tracking permission, and it is used only to see which of our own ads bring people who find the app useful.
- No tracking, no third-party advertising. The app does not request the advertising identifier, does not track you across other apps or websites, shows no ads, and sells or shares nothing for advertising. Nothing collected is linked to your name, email or an account: there is no account, and the name stays on your devices and in your own iCloud.
- Works without a network. Scanning, comparing and deleting all happen on the device and work offline. The network is used only for what is listed above, for the App Store, and for files you choose to open from iCloud.
Google and Superwall process this data on our behalf, on servers that may be outside your country, including in the United States.
2. Data that stays on your device
- Your photos and videos. The app reads your photo library to measure and compare it. Comparison uses Apple's Vision framework on the device. Images are never uploaded.
- Photo library access. iOS asks for your permission before the app can see your library. You can grant access to all photos or to a selection, and you can change or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.
- Analysis cache. To avoid rescanning from scratch, the app stores image fingerprints and scan results in its own private storage on the device. This cache contains no images, only numeric signatures. Deleting the app removes it.
- Folders you choose. The Files tab measures only a folder you pick yourself through the system file picker. iOS grants the app access to that folder alone. Nothing else on the device is readable, and the folder contents are never uploaded.
- Your contacts. The Contacts tab reads your address book to find the same person saved more than once, one number stored under two names, and cards with no way to reach anyone. Names, numbers and addresses are compared on the device and are never uploaded, and the app keeps no copy of them after you leave the tab.
- Contacts access. iOS asks for your permission before the app can read your address book, and the Contacts tab is the only part of the app that uses it. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings, and the rest of the app carries on working without it.
- Your name, answers and Swipe choices. The first name and the answers you give on first launch, and which photos you kept or put in the trash in Swipe, are kept on the device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also kept in the app's private database in your own iCloud account, so they are the same on your iPhone and iPad. Photos are recorded there only by the identifiers iCloud Photos gives them, never the photos themselves. That database belongs to your Apple Account: we cannot read it, and you can delete it in iOS Settings, under your name, iCloud, Manage Storage.
- iCloud files. If a file you open is stored only in iCloud, the app asks iOS to download it so it can be previewed. This request goes from your device to Apple, not to us. The app never downloads files on its own.
3. Deleting things
Nothing is deleted without you choosing it and confirming. Photos and videos are removed through the system, which places them in Recently Deleted, where iOS keeps them for 30 days before they are gone for good. Files removed from a folder you selected, and contacts removed from the Contacts tab, are deleted immediately and cannot be recovered from within the app.
4. Purchases
Cleanly is free to install and to scan. Pro is a weekly subscription that starts with a free trial; the length of the trial offered can differ from person to person while we test which works better. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, and we never see your name or payment details. The app asks Apple whether a subscription is active, and Apple also tells Superwall, as described above.
5. Children
The app is rated 4+. It is not directed at children, asks no one for personal information, and collects the same anonymous data described above from everyone who uses it.
6. Your choices
Deleting the app stops all of the above. Because nothing we receive is linked to who you are, we usually cannot pick out one person's data, but if you would like us to try, to tell you what we hold or to delete it, write to us and we will do what Google and Superwall allow.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
