Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
PDF Editor and Scan ("the app", "we", "us") is a document scanner and PDF toolkit that runs entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no servers, no subscriptions and no advertising. This policy explains what happens to your data, which in this case is short: it never leaves your phone. If you have questions, contact us at konansulx@gmail.com.
1. Information we collect
Nothing about your documents. We never collect, transmit or store your scans, imports, file names or their contents. We have no way to see what you scan, import or create.
The app does measure anonymous usage through Google Analytics for Firebase, so we can see which tools people open and where the app needs work. These are counters and screen names, never your files.
- No account, no sign-in. There is nothing to register. The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number or password.
- Anonymous usage counting. The app includes Google Analytics for Firebase. It records events such as "a tool was opened", "a document was added" and which screen is on display, together with the device model, iOS version, language and country. It does not record your name, your email, your files or their names, and it is not used for advertising.
- No tracking across apps. The app does not use the advertising identifier and does not follow you into other apps or websites. It never asks for permission to track, because it does not.
- Documents never go online. Every feature, including scanning, merging, compressing and text recognition, runs on the device and works in airplane mode. The only network traffic the app makes is the anonymous usage counting described above, and it contains no document data.
2. Data that stays on your device
- Your documents. Scans, imported files, merged and edited PDFs, folders and file names are stored in the app's private storage on your device. Other apps cannot read them. We cannot read them.
- Camera. The app asks for camera access so you can scan pages. Edge detection runs on the device. Captured images become PDF pages in your library and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Photo library. If you choose to import an image, the app reads only the files you pick. If you choose to export pages as images, it asks for permission to save them to your library. It never browses or scans your photos on its own.
- Text recognition. Reading the text off a page runs entirely offline, using Apple's Vision framework on iPhone and Google's ML Kit on Android. Both models are bundled inside the app. Pages are not sent to any service for recognition.
3. When data leaves the app
Only when you deliberately send it, and only where you send it:
- Sharing and exporting. When you tap share, print, or save to Files, the system hands your document to the app or destination you choose. What happens next is governed by that app's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Contacting support. If you use the contact link, your email app opens with our address filled in. Sending it is your choice, and the message goes to us by email.
4. Service providers
There are none. The app uses no third-party service, API, backend or data provider. We do not sell your data, share it, or transfer it — because we never receive it in the first place.
6. Children
The app is safe for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, because it collects no personal information at all.
6. Your rights
Data protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose or erase. Your documents are yours: you can delete any of them inside the app, and removing the app deletes everything it stored.
7. Security
Your documents are held in the app's private storage, protected by your device's own encryption and lock screen. Documents you protect with a password are encrypted with AES-256 inside the PDF itself. We cannot recover a password you set — there is no server to reset it from, so keep it somewhere safe.
8. Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app introduces anything that changes what is described here, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change with it.
