Terms of Use

Last updated: August 13, 2026

These terms govern your use of PDF Editor and Scan ("the app"). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The app

PDF Editor and Scan is a document scanner and PDF toolkit for iPhone, iPad and Android. It lets you scan pages with the camera, import images and existing PDFs, merge files, reorder and rotate pages, split documents, compress them, protect them with a password, read the text off a page, and convert them to other formats. Everything runs on your device.

2. Price

The app is free. Every tool is available to everyone. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no advertising and no paid tier. If that ever changes, it will be announced in the app and on this page first, and features you already have will not be taken away from you.

3. Your documents are your responsibility

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the app to create, alter or distribute documents in order to defraud, forge records, impersonate someone, or break the law in your country. Editing a document you have no right to alter is your liability, not ours.

5. No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Software has bugs. File operations can fail. Text recognition makes mistakes, and its output should be checked before you rely on it. Compression is lossy and can reduce the quality of images inside a document.

Keep a copy of any document that matters to you before you edit it. The app writes results as new files rather than overwriting originals wherever it can, but this is not a substitute for your own backup.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of documents, corrupted files, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Since the app is provided free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for it.

7. Third-party components

The app is built with open-source software, including the Flutter framework and a number of open-source libraries, and uses the text-recognition frameworks provided by Apple and Google as part of their operating systems. Those components remain governed by their own licences.

8. App stores

The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Your download and installation are also subject to the terms of whichever store you used. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app, and provide no warranty or support for it.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated as the app changes. The date at the top will reflect the current version. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
